How to read Jewish E-Books on a PC or Laptop?

In order to read a Jewish E-book, you’ll need two things: The e-book file and e-reader software to open the file:

  1. 1. The e-book files are downloaded directly from www.jewish-e-books.com. Once you have selected your purchases and checked out, a confirmation email with a link will be sent immediately to your Inbox. Click the link to download your book.

  2. 2. The e-reader software is called DIGITAL EDITIONS. This FREE software was developed by Adobe® and is specially designed for reading and organizing e-books. It is FREE to download, and takes just a few minutes. You only need to download it once. Once installed on your computer, you can use it to read all of your e-book purchases.

 

STEP 1: Download DIGITAL EDITIONS

  1. 1. Click HERE.

  2. 2. Click "Download Now" from the right side of the screen, and then choose to Download for Macintosh or for Windows. Follow the prompts to install Digital Editions on your computer.

STEP 2: Create an Adobe Account

Creating an Adobe account will allow you to transfer your e-books between devices. For example, if you open your ebook on a computer authorized by an Adobe account, you will then be able to open the ebook on another device which is authorized by the same account. If you do not authorize Digital Editions with an Adobe account, you will only be able to read your e-books on your computer.

  1. 1. Click HERE to access the Adobe site.

  2. 2. Click CREATE AN ADOBE ACCOUNT

  3. 3. Fill in your details, as requested. Only fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

  4. 4. Click CONTINUE.

  5. 5. Click CONTINUE again. Your account has been created.

 

STEP 3: Open Your Ebook

After completing the check-out process at Jewish E-Books, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Click on the link in the confirmation email and you will be directed to a Download page.

You will be directed to “Click here to download YOUR TITLE.” After clicking the link, you will be given the option to Open or Save the file. In the “Open with” field choose “Adobe Digital Editions.”

The first time you open a Jewish E-book, you will be asked if you want to authorize Digital Editions. Enter your Adobe ID and Password, as created in Step 2.

Click OK.

Your e-book will appear in your Adobe Digital Editions library.


III) TRANSFER YOUR E-BOOKS TO YOUR NOOK
Once your e-books are saved in Digital Editions, you can transfer them to your Nook.

  1. 1. Close Digital Editions, if open.
  2. 2. Plug your Nook into your computer using the USB cable.
  3. 3. Open Digital Editions.
  4. 4. You will be requested to authorize your Nook. Use the same Adobe ID and password with which you authorized Digital Editions. Digital Editions will recognize your Nook device and include it in the list of Bookshelves in the left column of the screen
  5. 5. Using your cursor, click the book cover image of the book you want to transfer and drag the cover onto the word Nook. The mouse cursor will show a green plus (+) symbol.
  6. 6. Safely eject the USB cable from your computer.


HOW TO OPEN YOUR BOOKS IN YOUR NOOK

  1. 1. Tap My Library.
  2. 2. Tap My Documents.
  3. 3. Tap Check for New Content.
  4. 4. Tap Sort By.
  5. 5. Tap Most Recent.

Your Jewish E-books titles will appear at the top of your list!

To read Jewish E-Books on your Kobo eReader, you will need to:

You can now open your e-books on your Kobo e-reader!

How to read Jewish E-Books on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch?

Jewish E-books can be downloaded directly to your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch. Our e-books can be read through Bluefire Reader – an application specially developed for reading e-books.

STEP 1: Tap into the App Store and download “Bluefire Reader” for free.

STEP 2: When Bluefire Reader launches for the first time, you will be asked if you want to authorize the application. Authorize Bluefire Reader with the same Adobe ID you use for your PC. If you do not yet have an Adobe ID, you can create one HERE by clicking "Create an Adobe Account."

STEP 3: After entering your Adobe ID and password in Bluefire Reader, tap on CONTINUE to authorize the reader.

Now you are ready to start buying your Jewish E-Books!

 

  1. 1. On Safari, browse through the selection at www.jewish-e-books.com and choose your purchases by clicking ADD TO CART. Tap on CHECKOUT and fill in the required fields.

How to read Jewish E-Books on a Kindle?

Please note: only titles offered in mobi format are compatible with the Kindle

  1. 1. Browse our Kindle E-Books selection. Check the “MOBI” format option and proceed through the Checkout Process. An email with the download link will immediately be sent to you.
  2. 2. On your COMPUTER, click on the download link, and, when given the option, choose to “Save” the file.
  3. 3. Open your Downloads folders on your computer (this is often in C:/User/User/Downloads on Windows or Username/Downloads on Mac) and locate the ebook file. Copy this file (Click Ctrl+C on Windows, Command+C on Mac).
  4. 4. Connect your Kindle to your computer using a USB cable. Your Kindle will appear in the same location as external USB drives usually appear. For Windows users, this is generally in the “Computer” or “My Computer” menu. For Mac users, the USB drive will appear on the Desktop.
  5. 5. Open the Kindle drive. One of the folders in this drive is titled “Documents.” Open the Documents folder and paste your e-book inside (Ctrl+V on Windows, Command+V on Mac).
  6. 6. Safely eject your Kindle device from your computer and your content will appear on the Home screen.

STEP 1: Allow installation of Applications:

  1. 1. Select Settings (the gear icon, or pull down from the top of screen)
  2. 2. Select “More”
  3. 3. Select “Device”
  4. 4. Next to “Allow Installation of Applications” choose ON. The ON button will turn to an orange color or underlined.
  5. 5. Click OK.

STEP 2: Install Bluefire Reader on device

  1. 1. On your Kindle Fire, tap HERE to download the Bluefire Reader APK (the Android app)
  2. 2. Select the Notifications Button (top left where it says “XX’s Kindle”)
  3. 3. When notified “Download Complete,” select this message
  4. 4. Select INSTALL at the bottom of screen

  2. 2. Choose “Download to Bluefire Reader”
